what is hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy encompasses a wide range of treatments using water to bring about healing. Dating back to the 18th century, hydrotherapy was once used in treatment of all forms of disease. Currently, hydrotherapy is used as an effective tool in physical medicine, occupational therapy, and naturopathy for pain management, immune support, fever, constipation, and aid in the elimination of toxins. It acts by using the pressure and temperature of water to stimulate circulation and improve the overall quality of blood, ensuring our cells are receiving adequate nutrition and proper removal of waste products. Some examples of hydrothrapy techniques are:

  • hot & cold compress
  • steam baths
  • contrast showers
  • foot baths
  • sitz baths
  • submersion therapy
  • castor oil packs
  • constitutional hydrotherapy
